Ex-Wall Street attorney to train local entrepreneurs

FRANCISTOWN: Former Wall Street attorney and investment banker, Sharon McPherson hosts two entrepreneurial development workshops - one in Gaborone today and the other in Francistown tomorrow.

The United States Embassy has sponsored the forum, which is meant to assist entrepreneurs identified as having substantial potential for growth.According to a statement released by the US Embassy in Gaborone, the workshops will cover how to scale a business, collaborate with entrepreneurs and build an enduring network of small business owners."There will be discussions on marketing, access to finance and business registration," a statement from the US Embassy says.

McPherson, the founder of the South Africa's Women's Enterprise Development Initiative (WEDI), will provide an overview of WEDI's resilience training programme that is an integral part of her organisation's leadership development series.  Based in cognitive and behavioural science, WEDI offers enterprise owners and managers strength-based as well as positive tools designed to increase their ability to grow and thrive in the face of challenges and bounce back from adversity, the statement says.The statement further reveals that McPherson will also meet with government and civil society officials to discuss the entrepreneurial environment before joining a gathering of young women and their role models. She will also take part in a meeting of a group of female entrepreneurs seeking to form a charter of the African Women's Entrepreneurship Programme in Botswana.
"She will also select some promising entrepreneurs from the workshops to whom she will provide one-on-one business counseling," the US Embassy states in the statement.
