Every employee should be a risk manager - marsh

FRANCISTOWN: Every employee needs to be a risk manager, a spokesman of Marsh Risk Consulting, Ronald Doyle, said at a seminar for mining companies on risk management the company co-sponsored with FNB here last week.

But for that to happen, employees must understand risk: "They need to understand the concept of risk, kinds of risk assessments, risk management models and how Marsh can help," Doyle said.

Employees must understand that risk is born out of peril, hazard and exposure. Saying risk management also entailed analysing hazards systematically, Doyle said the knowledge of employees would allow them "to challenge unrealistic recommendations".
