'Debswana has keen water conservation strategy'

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Hydrogeology Manager of Debswana Mines, Mike Brook, says the company's water policy for 2011 aims to achieve overall reduction in raw water use per cubic metre of ore processed.

Debswana also aims to continually improve water management at all its operations in line with the parastatal's water and residue strategy, international benchmarks and best practices.

The policy also aims at promoting water conservation, demand management, water use efficiency and rationalisation of water use as well as to minimise environmental impact from the company's water consumption in line with its safety, health and environmental (SHE) policy.
