De Beers will no longer use the zeppelin

Gem miner De Beers, which temporarily suspended exploration using the zeppelin after it crashed late last month, said on Wednesday that it will no longer use the airship in its prospecting programme in Botswana.

"At this point we think the extent of the damage to the structure is such that we will not be using this airship in our exploration project," spokesperson Tom Tweedy said.

The zeppelin was damaged late September after getting caught in a windstorm while tethered to a base in the vicinity of Jwaneng Mine.
