Congo's Inga power projects seek new lease of life

Stakeholders in the multi-billion dollar Inga hydroelectric power project in Congo met in London last week to try and pump in a new lease of life in the project that could be the world's biggest.

The stakeholders in the $80-billion power project included international banks, businesses and representatives of several African nations. Botswana which is actively involved in the project was represented at the meeting by Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Ponatshego Kedikilwe.

The proposed project will entail the development of Inga 3, which will include the construction of the 3 500-MW Inga 3 hydropower station in the DRC.
