Chinese enjoy lion's share of economy-BOCONGO report

Chinese companies are enjoying the lion's share of construction and government procurement, defeating the notion of citizen economic empowerment and economic diversification.

These sentiments emerged as key issues from public consultations carried out during the 2011/2012 national budget analysis by the Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO).

Presenting a report on the consultations at a meeting with key stakeholders last Friday, UB academic, Dr Keitseope Nthomang, said most Batswana and parliamentary debates expressed concerns over Chinese companies getting all mega government projects while local companies were sidelined.
