MMADINARE: Former teacher and now well-heeled businessman, Rantsudu Rantsudu, says that nothing disappoints like failure when success is beckoning. That is why the fear of failure kept him going when he started his business with a single payphone that he operated under a tree 13 years ago. He has since made enough money to become a millionaire.

It was in 2000 when Rantsudu bought his first payphone with the little he was earning as a teacher. As the business started booming, he applied for a loan from Citizen Economic Development Agency (CEDA) as he had no resources to expand. He got P15,000 to buy more pay phones.

“I had the urge to plough back to the community that made me who I am. I looked around Mmadinare and realised that there are shops, bars and butcheries but then I discovered that I could tap and carve a niche in the communication business through a payphone,” he says.
