Cash back for Itekanele members

The down-market medical aid scheme, Itekanele Health Scheme, has teamed up with Legae Investors and come up with a new product that will see members cashing back on their premiums if they do not have claims over the previous twelve months.

Legae Investors will then invest the capital on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) and other investment portfolios.
According to Itekanele, non-defaulting members can claim this after twenty-four months with interest, and members who do not fall sick in twenty-four months will be reimbursed by 20 percent.

"This is in response to the question that we always get from our members: 'What happens if I do not fall sick?' Now the answer is: 'You will get cash back'", says Dr Thapelo Namanyane of Itekanele.
Namanyane expects the products to encourage a savings culture, while financially empowering the 9000 lives covered by the scheme.
