Brazil's failure boosts BMC sales

The Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) has recorded the highest operating surplus before tax in 10 years.

In the 2008 annual report, BMC chief executive officer, Dr Motshudi Raborokgwe hails the year as an excellent one for the corporation. Raborokgwe says the 2008 financial year produced the best financial performance to-date when good prices paid to producers are also taken into account. 

"This, following on the previous three years of profit-making by the BMC, would indicate that the Commission has indeed turned the corner from a loss making to a profit-making operation," he declared.
