BPC bracing for winter peaks

The Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) is scrambling to resuscitate the last two dysfunctional units at Morupule B before the onset of winter, where demand is expected to peak at more than 600 megawatts.

While units 1 and 4 of the troubled power station were reignited last week following technical failures at the beginning of the month, units 2 and 3 are still under repair from faults experienced last year.

Yesterday, Mmegi Business established that while the Corporation generally expects the 600MW power station to be fully functional by year-end, it is hoping to bring back one or both of the units before winter.
