Botswana to gain from Paste08

Government and other stakeholders in the mining and water conservation business have been urged to take advantage of the upcoming Paste and Thickened Tailings conference (Paste08) and learn how to conserve and properly use water from international experts.

Speaking in an interview with BusinessWeek, Debswana Group Metallurgical Manager   Bernard Busani, who will also coordinate the conference to be held in Kasane in May next year, says although his company is organising this conference for the purpose of deliberating on how to conserve water at their mines, government and water utilities can also participate gainfully.

The conference's objective is to promote technology that reduces use of new water by mines and to promote environmentally superior management of mine residues.
Busani says the intention is to achieve a quantum reduction of 50 percent in water usage at their mines.
