Botswana taps into US solar technology

One of the world's biggest producers of solar power, the United States, has offered Botswana a boost into large scale generation, through the use of cutting-edge technology being developed and adopted in the world economic giant.

A high ranking member of President Barack Obama's administration recently committed the US' assistance to ensuring that the estimated 3,200 hours of sunshine that Botswana receives each year translate into electricity, jobs and development.

In an exclusive interview, the US under secretary for economic growth, energy and the environment, Robert Hormats, told Mmegi Business the US would invite a group of Botswana solar sector stakeholders to a trade fair in Atlanta next month to see the latest technology at work.
