Botswana remains static in global telecoms rankings

* Country pegged 10th in Africa, 91 globally
* EASSy not accounted for in survey
* Ranked 125th globally for days needed to start a business

The World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Information Technology Report has downgraded Botswana to 91st out of 138 countries worldwide in telecommunications competitiveness, five rungs down the ladder from the previous report.

However, the 2010/11 Global Information Technology Report (GITR) - which was released on Tuesday - has not taken into account the new EASSy connection that has brought one of the world's fastest data speeds to Botswana with huge opportunities for cost savings.
