Botswana Joins EASSy Submarine Network

With the recent signing of the supply agreement in South Africa, the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has become part of the Eastern African Submarine Systems (EASSy) consortium. The signing ceremony was hosted by South Africa's Telkom, which also joined the consortium.

In addition to BTC and the Telkom South Africa/Vodacom Group, other members of the consortium are Neotel, British Telecom (BTCGNS), Telecom Mozambique, Uganda Telecommunications Limited, MTN International, Zambia Telecoms, TelOne Zimbabwe, Telkom Kenya, Telcom Malagasy, Saudi Telecom, Ethiopia Telecom, Dalkom Somalia, Mauritius Telecom, Comores Telecom, Zanzibar Telecom, Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation Limited, Sudan Telecommunications and Djibouti Telecoms.

EASSy is a submarine cable system linking Southern, Eastern and Northern Africa to global submarine networks.
