Botswana Diamonds starts bulk sampling at BK5

Botswana Diamonds (BOD) has started bulk sampling of its BK5 diamondiferous kimberlite in Orapa as part of its quest to join the growing list of diamond juniors operating in the country.

In a statement, Chairman John Teeling says the company is currently at a critical stage in the evaluation of the BK5 and AK8 kimberlites for commercial exploration.

"Once we establish the value per ton of the kimberlite ore, we can look at commercial options," he says. "While the size of the pipes is positive, the overall grade is marginal. The quality of the diamonds, which will be reflected in the price per carat, is a critical factor."
