Botswana Diamonds seeks more licences in Orapa

After failing to find any diamonds of commercial value on two of its targeted kimberlites, BK5 and AK8, BSE and Aim-listed Botswana Diamonds has applied for new prospecting licences in Orapa.

In an operations update, the company says previously reported grades at BK5 were not replicated in bulk sampling where no diamonds were discovered, while at 1.25 carats per hundred tonnes (cpht), the grade of AK8 is not likely to be commercial. Said Chairman John Teeling in the operations update:

"We are re-examining the historical data and we are carrying out a thorough review of the AK9 kimberlite prior to a decision to bulk sample. Differences in results need an explanation.
