The Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) will hold a first of its kind entrepreneurship conference on 28th August.

BOCCIM director of business development services Zoe Isaacs said the  conference seeks to inspire current and aspiring entrepreneurs, especially the youth, and provide them with an opportunity for networking with fellow industry players.

"We want to see the spirit of entrepreneurship growing amongst Batswana and to basically create opportunity through business," she said. The current unemployment rate in Botswana stands at 17.8 percent with the majority of the affected being youths while government's Internship Programme currently has 5, 800 graduates awaiting placement.  "Therefore it is an imperative to create an opportunity through business," said Isaacs. She noted that employment is unlikely to rise especially in the current status of the economy so citizens have to think outside the box.
