BOCCIM to conduct post-recession study

The Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) will receive P2 million from the African Development Bank (ADB) with which to conduct a study to investigate long-term means of dealing with the global financial crisis.

The study is expected to place a more concentrated focus on mining and energy projects because the sector was the hardest hit by the crisis.

Speaking at the organisation's 38th annual general meeting in Gaborone on Wednesday, BOCCIM President Modiri Mbaakanyi said the crisis was so widespread that even Small, Micro and Medium Enterprise (SMMEs) were not spared and were still reeling from it.
