BOCCIM tips Phikwe on transformation

Speaking during a business community dinner meeting in Phikwe recently, Mosienyane said innovation comes from cities not towns. He said the Vatican in Rome whose population is only 1,000 is a city while Selebi-Phikwe with over 50,000 people is still a town. “Selebi-Phikwe qualifies to be a city but it is still stuck in the American mentality that a town must have over 100,000 people to become a city. Efficiency of distribution and production is the only requirement and if Selebi-Phikwe can be efficient in these, then she can become a city. I am here to help this mining town become a city,” he added.
Mosienyane said Selebi-Phikwe region has been ignored for a long time even by BOCCIM. “We bring good news that we are going to reverse the impasse of the past. If villages that have never had copper mines survive, then there is nothing to fear about Selebi-Phikwe collapsing after mines closures. All we need to do is to join hands,” he said.
