SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) president Leta Mosienyane has said efficiency in production and distribution can transform Selebi-Phikwe into a city.

Speaking during a business community dinner meeting in Phikwe recently, Mosienyane said innovation comes from cities not towns. He said the Vatican in Rome whose population is only 1,000 is a city while Selebi-Phikwe with over 50,000 people is still a town. “Selebi-Phikwe qualifies to be a city but it is still stuck in the American mentality that a town must have over 100,000 people to become a city. Efficiency of distribution and production is the only requirement and if Selebi-Phikwe can be efficient in these, then she can become a city. I am here to help this mining town become a city,” he added.
