BOCCIM laments inadequate budget consultation

Government's consultative process in national budget formulation leaves much to be desired, especially at a time the country faces disastrous effects of the global financial crisis.

In an interview with Business Week, Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) executive director, Maria Machailo-Ellis, said although there is "some sort of interaction with Government on national budget formulation, the government could do more to factor in inputs from various stakeholders."

"The national budget is a very broad activity of our economy, particularly at difficult times like these. It therefore calls for dialogue, especially with the private sector.
