BOCCIM Fair attracts 120 exhibitors

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Confederations of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) annual trade fair, which begins today here, has attracted over 120 exhibitors.

This compares favourably to last year when 100 businesses came to exhibit their products and services.The organisation's membership officer Chanda Chakalisa confirmed the figures yesterday.The event, which is among the most important on Francistown's annual calendar, will be held at the BOCCIM grounds at Gerald Estates, beginning tomorrow and ending on Sunday. This year's event is themed Unlocking Opportunities to a Successful Citizen Participation in the Economy of Botswana'. "So far we have managed to attract 120 businesses to the fair.We have exhibitors from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Lesotho who will be part of the event," Chakalisa said yesterday.

Today, stalls will be judged after a breakfast seminar at Adansonia Hotel."The seminar will be conducted by academics from the University of Botswana (UB). The main purpose of the morning meet will be to sensitise exhibitors on the theme of the fair," she said.Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) CEO Paul Taylor will officially open the fair tomorrow morning.  Gates will open to members of the public after the official opening.
