The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has urged accredited companies to continuously look for ways of improving standards while maintaining excellence levels at the same time.

Speaking at a handover ceremony of an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certificate to construction company Abdulla Associates in Gaborone recently, the Managing Director of BOBS, Masego Marobela, said it is important for ISO accredited companies to maintain and look for ways of continuously improving their achieved levels of excellence. She said to-date, there are only 38 BOBS quality management systems certified local organisations and an eight percent growth from 2009 to 2010 globally, demonstrating the recognised importance of this standard of doing business. "Let me emphasise that in today's business transactions worldwide, preference is given to certified organisations for the supply of goods and services," she said.

She encouraged Abdulla Associates to take its newly acquired (ISO) 9001:2008 accreditation seriously, urging the company to maintain the certification status by ensuring continued satisfaction and compliance to its requirements. Abdulla Associates is a 100-percent citizen-owned company that started its operations in 1995.
