BoB's introduction of P200 note applauded

FRANCISTOWN: A lecturer at the University of Botswana (UB) Faculty of Economics, Professor Narain Sinha, has applauded the move by the Bank of Botswana (BoB) to introduce a P200 bank note.

Speaking in a telephone interview, Prof Sinha said the central bank made a wise move, which would reduce the high pressure exerted on the P100 note, currently the biggest denomination in the country.

Sinha said the decision came at the right time when the country's inflation rate was rising. He stressed that the rise in the inflation rate is one of the factors that call for the introduction of bigger notes.
