BoB advised to form inflation targeting unit

FRANCISTOWN: The Bank of Botswana (BoB) should form a special unit to watch inflation.

Commenting at a BoB-sponsored briefing for the business community at Thapama Hotel here yesterday, the former president of the Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM), Iqbal Ibrahim, said such a unit should result in lower interest rates.

Ibrahim cited the example of the South African Reserve Bank which is run independently from the government.
