BNPC trains tourism industry players on customer care

The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Tshekedi Khama says Botswana faces growing competition from other nation states who have similar product offerings for tourism and diverse landscapes.

Therefore he said that Botswana can no longer be competitive based solely on the product; and that the people delivering the product have to be up-skilled to offer unique tourism experiences that leave a lasting impression on all tourists.

The Minister said this during the recent launch of the 2013 customer care training for those in the tourism industry that are utilising the tourism industry training fund. The training, an 18 months initiative, is being provided by the Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC),  targeting over 700 staff throughout the country. The target groups include those in:-tourism and hospitality, transport sector; veterinary services (employees working at cordon fence gates); filling station attendants; personnel working at points of entry (BURS, Department of Immigration and Botswana Police).
