BLIL to venture into unit trusts next year

The country's oldest life assurance company, Botswana Life Insurance Limited (BLIL), says it will launch a unit trust component as part of a strategy to consolidate its products and to continue to enjoy the lion's share of the market next year.

The company's CEO, Regina Sikalesele-Vaka, says the unit trust offering forms part of their strategy to expand the business and diversify their product range, which is mainly life and funeral assurance. 

"Unit trusts are a combination of assets, so it will help us spread our risk and cushion us against the ups and down of the economy," Sikalesele-Vaka said in an interview after the presentation of BIHL's interim results on Tuesday.
