Beware of fake banknotes - BoB

The Bank of Botswana (BoB) has warned members of the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit banknotes, which are currently in circulation.

The Bank's public relations officer Chepete Chepete said in statement that the fake notes being circulated are in P100 and P50 denominations and urged the public to be vigilant and to exercise caution when accepting banknotes.

"The fakes notes are photo or scanned copies of genuine banknotes and thus, (the) metallic features such as (the) hologram and (the) windowed security thread appear as black, grey or brown patches on the surface of the bank notes," Chepete said.
