BCL falls short of customer demands

SELEBI-PHIKWE: With the mine falling short of customer requirements during 2006, production remains a major challenge for BCL Mine.

General Manager Montwedi Mphathi said this when giving the mine's 'report card' during a Christmas dinner he hosted for senior employees and stakeholders last Thursday.

"Production remains a big challenge and we have fallen short of our customer requirements," Mphathi said, adding that in the last two years, opening up of new areas had lagged behind. "As a result, we have squandered our developed reserves, resulting in a reduction in productivity flexibility."
