BCL Mine and the Botswana Mine Workers' Union (BMWU) have sealed a wage deal that will see workers receive an adjustment of between 6.5 percent and eight percent for the 2011/12 financial year.

The two sides met last Monday following a two-week "cooling off" break in negotiations that began on May 03.
In a statement, BCL Mine said last week's round of negotiations had resulted in a signed agreement, adding that employees would also benefit from a 1.67 percent adjustment to the company's pension fund contribution to 10 percent.

Prior to last week's agreement, workers were pushing for a 14 percent across the board increase in basic salaries, 6.7 percent adjustments in company contribution in the new pension scheme, 15 percent increase on all allowances and 2.5 percent adjustment to annual bonuses.
