BaTswapong Agog For Diamond Mine

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Civil construction work has a started at a site near Lerala in Tswapong where DiamonEx Botswana is expected to start mining operations early 2008. Mine Manager Mark Coetzee, said the company is in the process of developing a marketing strategy and is in discussions with several interested parties.

"We are obviously aiming to achieve the best prices", he said in an interview.

He said he welcomed the new development of beginning to polish diamonds within the country as a step in the right direction and stressed the need to maximise value-adding processes within Botswana.  He said the process would also increase job opportunities around the commodity that has put Botswana on the map.
