Batswana among top SA festive visitors

Visitors from Botswana were among the top nationalities arriving in South Africa between December 1 and January 7 last year, as holidaymakers made their way to various resorts, as well as to spend time with family and friends.

Data released yesterday by the South African Department of  Home Affairs indicates that the Kopfontein Border Post, adjacent to Botswana’s Tlokweng Border Post was also among that country’s top 10 busiest over the festive season.

South African Home Affairs minister, Malusi Gigaba told journalists that foreign arrivals to South Africa over the festive season rose eight percent year-on-year‚ which he said dispelled concerns over the country’s tighter visa regime.
