Audit choice debate heats up

Regulators globally are not prepared to support the case for government intervention to break up the big four auditing firms.

In spite of unease about audit concentration, regulators worldwide including here in Botswana have not supported the case for government intervention to break up the big four auditing firms-Deloitte, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young-into smaller businesses.

Auditors on the other hand are in a dilemma over whether the audit profession reflects audit choice.
