As Botswana embarks on the privatisation of its major parastatals, the country would be well-advised to tread carefully in order to avoid the pitfalls that have crippled Zambia's once thriving copper mining industry and thrown thousands of workers onto the streets, writes TERENCE MUSUKU

In Zambia, far more people get killed in underground mine accidents each year than get mauled by the kings of the jungle.
