Another diamond jewellery plant on the cards

Indian diamond polisher and retailer, Suashish Diamonds, plans to set up a jewellery manufacturing plant in Botswana, becoming the second DTCB sightholder to further beneficiate the precious stones locally.

Through the move, Suashish will join Shrenuj Botswana whose P30 million jewellery plant is scheduled to open doors next month. The two DTCB sightholders are the first to take a step further into the diamond value chain, adding jewellery to the diamond exploration, mining and polishing activities conducted locally.

At a National Strategy Office meeting on Wednesday, Diamond Hub Coordinator Jacob Thamage announced that Suashish had become the second DTCB sightholder to pursue jewellery manufacturing.
