Annual inflation eases in April

Annual inflation rate eased slightly in April to 8.2 percent from 8.5 percent in March largely due to the dropping out of the effects of last April's Value Added Tax (VAT) rise.

Statistics Botswana on Friday announced that all the group indices showed increases between March and April.

The group indices, which showed significant increases, were Recreation & Culture (4.1 percent), Health (3.0 percent), Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (2.4 percent), Clothing & Footwear (1.9 percent), Alcohol & Tobacco (1.4 percent), Transport (1.0 percent) and Restaurants & Hotels (1.0 percent).
