Aggregation to start in Gaborone by October 2012

With the move expected to be concluded by October 2012, the first phase of the relocation of the operations of DTC International to Gaborone has gathered steam.

While the recently signed agreement between government and De Beers stipulates that the relocation of DTC International from London will be completed in August 2013, DTC Botswana's Brian McDonald has told BusinessWeek aggregation will come much sooner.

Aggregation involves the blending of categories of rough diamonds like-for-like regardless of their country of origin, then splitting these into appropriate types and quantities to be sold to clients known as sightholders in the diamond industry.
