Dear Gaone Please keep my identity anonymous. I am a medical doctor by profession. I am getting increasingly worried by some of the married and non – married women in heterosexual relationships that form part of my clientele. Some of them are in relationships where they do not have a say in the financial upkeep of their homes which births depression and stress – related diseases. Is there such a thing as financial or economic abuse in a relationship?

Domestic violence which is also a form of gender-based violence includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse as well as economic abuse, harassment, intimidation or damage to property.
