A new, 'vibrant party' with revised outlook and refurbished leadership had to be. The entrenched party factions had to dissolve. It was then that a plot was hatched to venture outside the routine circle of the BDP echelons, into the BDF whose commander Lieutenant General Khama was retiring to his hereditary non-political Bogosi (chieftainship) headquarters in Serowe.
