Zahara returns in March

Fans of talented South African songstress, Zahara, will be in for a treat when the young diva makes her second trip to Botswana on March 24.

The Loliwe hitmaker is scheduled for a big show at Lions Park, a few kilometres south of Gaborone along the Lobatse road. The last time the award-winning star came to the country only 500 fans were allowed to watch her at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC). However, Dladleng Entertainment, the company bringing her this time around, decided to go for the more open and spacious Lions Park. The director of the company, Oscar "Dlamini" Thebe, said they realised that only a few people got the chance to see the likable musician live last December, and decided to give those who missed out a 'second chance'. "Without taking anything from the promoter who brought her (Zahara) here last time, we have to be honest; many more people would have wanted to see her in action but they could not because there were limited tickets for the show. A place like Lions Park would obviously accommodate more people. We all know that she commands a big following. She has been the hottest thing in music circles since last year,"Thebe told Showbiz. It is now evident that Zahara does not come cheap for her fans. She still carries a P500 tag for VIPs. The regular advance ticket goes for P250 and P350 at the gate. Thebe said the area would be demarcated to separate VIP guests from the rest of the crowd. He noted that the VIP ticket carries benefits such as dinner and a branded T-shirt.  A host of Botswana’s top performers are also billed to star at the show. Singer Shanti Lo, whose star seems to be rising with each performance, leads the local pack, which includes Puna Gabasiane, Lister Boleseng and Banjo Mosele of Ntsa e Jele Ntsanyana fame.Veteran jazz DJ, Vavo, is also billed to give fans a dose of his collection.  South African legendary Tswana soul singer, Johnny Mokhali, completes the line up.
