There is a wonderful display of artistic talent at the ongoing National Women Expo. Cultural items, mostly hand made, are a real eye catcher at the exhibition taking place at Boipuso Hall.

The exhibition also reveals how the Leteisi(German print) continues to captivate both designers and consumers despite the on-going arrival of other fashion trends.Leteisi has been of one of the most appreciated materials by locals, especially during important social functions such weddings.Though it was commonly used to design clothes for women, especially the khiba, this decorated material now lures men.

Different exhibitors display items either made with German print or partly decorated with the material. One of the exhibitors, Khumo Baalora, has made good use of this popular material which comes in different colors. While many of her peers at the event used it for designing clothes, the Mmadinare woman cut different shapes to stick them onto her paper mache vases. As Leteisi has always been associated with weddings, Baalora's pieces, she said have mostly been bought by wedding planners. The items range from vases to fruit dishes of various sizes.  "Initially, I did not realize the connection between the vases and the linen but it then crossed my mind that I could use it as part of the decorations. For some reason, people love it more that way," she told Arts&Culture.
