When history meets art emotions can run high

In 1899 a Boer commando raided Dederpoort and Sikwane village, massacring a group of Bakgatla in both places. Men, women and children were butchered in cold blood.

It was one of the most touching pieces of contemporary history that will forever remain etched in the hearts of many, especially those living in the area though it has not really been highlighted as one of our historical low points.

After 133 years, many would want to call it a forgotten incident but once you visit the victims graveyard it all feels so hurting and haunting.
