WABO braces for May 19 annual meeting

The organisation is expected to elect a new executive committee. Vice chairperson Lauri Kubuitsile told Arts & Culture that in their time in office, the current committee has been able to host WABO's 30th anniversary celebration at which the third issue of literary journal, Mahube, was launched.
The organisation also hosted writing workshops on short story writing, creative writing in journalism, and finding markets for your writing, Kubuitsile said. WABO also organised the first national Read-a-thon in collaboration with the Pan African Reading Conference last year. Kubuitsile said these milestones were achieved under considerable constraints. The organisation still has no office and administrative staff. Further, although eight people were voted into the current committee, only four members were active, she said.
