The legacy of folklorist Lepodise Sekoboana

The post-Pula-le-Thebe era seems to have given birth to an era of unparalleled patriotism among Batswana folklorists of the time who led the celebrations of what was surely an indication of the beginning of great things to come for the nation.

One such legend whose compositions seemed to have touched the hearts of Batswana was a slender looking Kgatleng youth who went by the name Lepodise Sekoboana.  He did not cut any album, but the youngster, along with the players of his generation were recorded by Radio Botswana (RB) and had their music played on the only national radio station, enabling the music to reach the masses. 

At the time the great Sir Seretse Khama's government also had adopted a deliberate policy to have local musicians assisted with amplifiers so they could stage concerts around the country and make money for themselves.  Sekoboana was amongst them.
