It was a very emotional night for many My Star fans on Friday as some of their favourite contestants in Motswafere, Shirley and Sharon were up for elimination.

Motswafere who seemed a trembling nervous wreck, was saved from battling either Shirley or Sharon to stay in the singing contest. However the judges decided to keep Sharon after she went head to head with Shirley in a singing battle. My Star judge, DJ Sid was disappointed that Shirley had to leave, arguing that she deserved to be in the top 5.He cried that the voting system has to be changed as people no longer vote, leading to the elimination of promising talent.

"Sharon, you deserve to be in the top 3 and I am very frustrated to see you here. I am sad that everywhere I go all I hear are people talking about you and how great you are, but to my disappointment they don't vote," Sid said.Shirley said she was glad to have been in the competition. She was happy to have made it to the top 10 in her fifth season in the show."I have learned a lot in this competition and have developed into a better singer this year. I am now a confident person and am able to sing very well," she said. She walked away with P1 500 and Mascom goodies, including a phone and airtime, among other things.
