Take your work seriously, minister tells artists

FRANCISTOWN: Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Shaw Kgathi last week urged artists to take their work seriously and develop their talents like other youth have done giving examples of successful and outstanding artists like Dikakapa, Slizer and Shumba Ratshega.

He was speaking at the Francistown Civic Centre where he addressed employees from government departments under his ministry. He said constituency competitions are not going to last forever, they need artists to graduate and stand on their own.

"You should not always relate your work with alcohol consumption. Just stage the festivals in a hall and do not allow alcohol in. See if people will not attend. There are some people who like to watch live shows but they do not attend because of alcohol that you always think you cannot do a show without," explained Kgathi.
