Students encouraged to pursue art as a career

FRANCISTOWN: Local businessman Edmond Mojanaga of Mojanaga Investments has encouraged students to pursue their art talents after finishing school.

He was the guest speaker at the Regional Art Exhibition (North East Region), held at Super Spar Stores on Friday. The categories of Art exhibition were painting, drawing, sculpture, 2D craft, 3D craft, 2D design and emerging issues. There were three senior and 17 junior schools competing. He said the theme for this year's exhibition, "Art and Economic Development", might sound too simple but very critical in this era of very limited employment opportunities for the youth. Mojanaga said art is therefore indispensable to employment creation and entrepreneurship.

"The efforts are not only meant for self-employment opportunities and the local job market but are also internationally focused," he said.
