Shima preferres to look like a brand in anti-alcohol advert

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) politician, Shima Monageng, says he shunned modelling as a drunk, and rather opted for the executive-look for the Ministry of Trade and Indutsry full page, full colour anti-alcohol abuse adverts that have been appearing in local newspapers for a while now.

It is not only the mileage that the owner of a jazz joint enjoys. He has admitted he gets paid too for appearing in the fabulous advertisements although he would not disclose how much the Ministry of Trade is paying him for the adverts critics feel  they could have been better-modelled for by musicians and radio DJs.

Indeed the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU), which looks after the interests of local artists says they are unhappy that no local artist has been invited to enjoy the benefits of appearing in these fabulous adverts, which would serve to brand the musicians, market their albums, and improve their sales in these hard times when local music is not doing so well.
