Inga Ritter, winner of last month's Planet Women photography competition, launched her two-week exhibition during a colourful event held at Alliance Franaise in Gaborone recently.

The collective exhibition of her photos, titled On The Other Side, is part of her prize for winning the Studio 54- and Alliance Francaise-sponsored competition.  The series was about the reality of women contradicting typical stereotypes.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Ritter said: "Have you ever wanted to see what lies behind the masks of people?  To know what they really feel like?  To know what they're dreaming of, what touches them, moves them and motivates them?  I, at least, like to find out or sometimes speculate and make visible what is On the Other Side of what is termed as reality or in other words what lies behind the facts and the objective truth."
She added that photography is an interesting medium to choose to want to portray the hidden 'inside' or 'other side' of things.   One of her pictures, named Retrospective, shows a young woman who has visions of her fate.
