SELEBI-PHIKWE: There was an outcry of poor sound quality by artists at the President's Day contemporary music preliminary round that was held at Town Hall over the weekend.

Most of the time was consumed in setting up the equipment and some of the compact discs (CDs) could not even play. Some of the artists had to be given a second chance on stage, after the music stopped halfway through their performance.

In some instances, artists were blamed for recording their music on cheap CDs. The competition was divided into three categories namely, live performance, new upcoming artists and backtrack. The competition attracted 36 artists for both live performance and back track from the central region. Around 60 artists competed under the new comers category.
