"Now i' ll have silence and nothing"

"Women Without Men" aka "Zanan-e bedun-e mardan" is playing only on Tuesday November 22, 2011 at the Maru a Pula School A/V Centre at 7 pm.

This film, set in 1952 and 1953, covers the period building up to a coup and in abstract, magic realistic, nearly surrealistic images and metaphors, explores the lives of four very different women who are subjugated by men.

The film is dedicated to "the memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran" in the Constitutional Revolution of 1906, in the resistance to the overthrow of Mossadegh in 1953 (as stated by the film) and during the Green Movement of 2009. It opens with a call to prayer, a woman clad in black on a rooftop, who then jumps. Her hair floats above her. "Now I'll have silence and nothing."
